Age group uses dating sites
There’s a particular psychological profile that researchers have discovered of users of Internet dating services.Ages ranged from 19 to 89 with a mean of 48 years old. That the two oldest age groups don’t top any of the sites probably doesn’t surprise anyone, though. As we promised in the introduction, we have calculated an estimate of the average age for each of the social network sites included in this study. A few observations: Although we can’t say how this will change over time, at the moment the older generations are for one reason or another (tech savvy, interest, etc.) not using social networking sites to a large extent. Some observations on age distribution: Most of the social networks we included are dominated by the age group 35-44, which was apparent in the first chart in this article. This group has become the most “social” age group out there.
The researchers found that people who are more “sociable are more likely to use Internet dating services than are those who are less sociable.

I think the science of such sites is ultimately of limited value, since no amount of data is going to predict whether two people will experience that indefinable quality of a “spark” on a first date. also weighed in this past week about the overwhelming number of choices of online dating and the research that has shown the more choices we have, the harder it can be sometimes to make a decision (“cognitive overload”). We took the age distribution data we had collected and calculated what the age distribution looked like across all 19 sites counted together. A full 25% of the users on these sites are aged 35 to 44, which in other words is the age group that dominates the social media sphere. That was the age distribution when looking at these 19 sites together.
When looking at individual social network sites, the differences are significant, as you will see below.
